Cancer Fashion

Unfortunately, the odds are that a bunch of you are going to die of cancer. Painful, enfeebling, terminal, hereditary cancer. With that in mind (and it's eternally at the back of mine), designing a clothes range inspired by cancer is pretty perverse. In the endless quest for the new, it seems no stone, however tasteless, can be left unturned.
London designer Sarah Lewis created her line of leather jewellery and accessories as a result, in part, of a shitty childhood watching various family members battling and dying of cancer. The holes and bumps in her designs are based on the way cancer eats at the body. Check the clothes out, they're pretty scary, though they don't look anything like Barbara Hershey in Beaches.

Wow this is amazing. Sick in every sense of the word. I wouldn't dare think was a good idea. But it really works.

I think these are amazing, I had cancer when I was 13, and I in no way find these images insulting, in fact I might just send her the scans of my black cancer infected bones as inspiration, ha! People take it way too seriously... I know, it is serious, but it's just one of those things that happen, it's life, it's natural, and without it I would never had gotten to where I am now. I just wish I'd photographed this piece though. Whyyyy do I always find out about these things after they happen?!

Cancer as a fashion statement. Hope it inspires.
